I want to make it crystal clear that I dont advocate police shooting unarmed people with their hands up, mentally ill people brandishing butter knives or shooting to kill under any circumstances if it can be safely avoided! I had a lot of trouble on several posts I commented on yesterday, confusing my argument as to likely scenarios where one might be shot with advocating shootings. It is not a dichotomy... It should be possible to predict a situation where a policeman would be likely to resort to lethal force without siding with him in doing do... If the policeman in the Mike Brown case claims that Brown punched him and went for his gun, we can not dismiss that possibility as the reason Mike Brown was shot till all the evidence is made available.
