I want to put this on record, I am a big fan of China. Apart from their human rights record. Also, not keen on their environmental record. So apart from human rights and the environment I am a big fan of China. This leads me to soup hero number 10, Chinese President Xi Jinping. When President Xi first became leader he issued an immediate crackdown on government corruption. One of the consequences of which was that he banned the serving of shark fin soup at government banquets. In China the serving of shark fin soup was a traditional symbol of wealth and power and sales of it had massively increased following Chinas economic growth. However shark finning is nasty business as it involves chopping off the fin whilst the shark is still alive which in my humble opinion isnt cool. So hats of to President Xi for cracking down on shark fin soup.
