I want to say a big THANKYOU to my Facebook family and friends for your thoughts and prayers! At my appointment at Hershey Medical yesterday, there was some good news. After the CAT scan, I met with my surgeon. The skin cancer lesion on the back of my thigh was not as invasive as my previous doctor thought. My previous doctor had speculated that it had invaded the muscle. Even though it is a large lesion, the CAT scan showed that it had not gone too deep. I will have surgery to remove it this coming Wednesday. Amazingly, this will be same day surgery under general anesthesia! After the surgery, it will be sent to pathology to make sure the edges of the wound are clean and there is no cancer. It will take around three days for the results. If it shows that cancer cells are still there, I will go back for more surgery to remove it. I will not be needing a skin graft, skin flap, radiation or chemo, at this point. The doctor said that the wound, although large, could heal by itself because I am *young* and have no other health concerns. If I wanted to speed the healing, a skin graft is an option. I will have frequent check ups in the coming years because sometimes this type of skin cancer returns. If it does return , more aggressive treatments will be needed. For now, I am hopeful! I will be so glad when this ordeal is over! I have been immobilized and unable to work or even walk this past month because of the extreme pain. Thank you so, so much for your many words of love, prayers and encouragement! It really helped to make yesterday so much easier. Even though I am still facing surgery and and months of healing, I know that your prayers, thoughts and encouragement will help me get through! What wonderful friends I have! *I am not afraid, God is with us!*
