To continue the NY Tax Saga AKA I will never do business in NY - TopicsExpress

To continue the NY Tax Saga AKA I will never do business in NY again, I called the sales tax department to figure out why I couldnt login. I was told that creating an account without a PIN from us usually doesnt work, here Ill give you a PIN. Except that logged me into a personal account for Diana in NY that had her SSN wrong (it was our business EIN). WTF? They had me log out of THAT, nuked her account, and created a proper business account. OK, now I can login. But when I go to report the sales for the con, so I can pay the sales tax, the system asks me 4 questions and then tells me it cant get into the system and to call tech support. The lady on the phone has me try 5 things (one of which is we dont support that version of Safari, please try Firefox) and then sends me to another IT lady. THAT lady has me try 5 things, including clearing ALL of my browser history and cookies, and then tells me its a problem with my browser, and that my version of Safari IS supported so use that. Same error. Then the lady **ASKS ME FOR MY ACCOUNT PASSWORD** and tries to login herself. That works. (she hasnt heard me say I can login fine but cant get into the sales tax page). We finally figure that out, and she declares it an application error and theyll have to file a ticket with IT, who will call me back later today. I told you that story, to say this: 1) NY needs to fire their software contractors and entire IT department ASAP. 2) The various help desk groups needs to get their stories straight on supported web browsers 3) It is entirely useless to offer options on your website that you KNOW dont work. 4) The help desk should be trained that it is HIGHLY INAPPROPRIATE to ask for a users password EVER. 5) If it takes me longer to sign up for a tax license and report taxable sales in your state THAN IT TOOK ME TO ACTUALLY VEND IN YOUR STATE, you will have no business from me.
