I want to say how proud I am of the members of the South Windham FD, Windham Center, and North Windham FDs, and all other Companies evolved with this job. It may have been ten years ago, on New Years day we had a fire in this historic 1700s balloon construction home. At that time it was in the three story main part of the house. Started on the second floor entrance deck by a contractor with a torch. It was in the wall. We chased It up the stairs, pulled ceilings on the third floor.the attic was orange. We saved the roof, and the house. It was a frigid snowy day. I remember my gear cracking as i had my tank changed out front. Now, almost on the same day, this historic home is saved again! Its not by accident, or luck. Its highly trained, highly motivated, aggressive Firefighters who will aggressively seek the seek out the fire. Who know their town and the buildings in it. They work quickly, efficiently and in perfect harmony on scene. This saved a home that was here, before the Constitution was signed! Twice! Everyone went home, and no one was hurt. That, is strong work! Outstanding, proud of you Brothers and Sisters!
