I want to say how unbelievably thankful I am for all of the donations that were given this year. Each time I put out a call for donations I A) worry that I wont get enough and Ill let people down and B) worry that I bit off more than I can chew. I had those same feelings this time. I was so overwhelmed and didnt know what to do. I didnt know what to force into my car and what to worry about for next time. I didnt know exactly what kids needed right now or how to be of the most help. But, I have complete Faith in those around me. My neighbors, my friends, my family, my network.. Everyone makes this work. I couldnt do it without you. I often tell people that I do this on my own, and much of it is. I pick up most donations. I sort them myself. I pack and often transport them alone. The reality is that I have do many people supporting and making this work. When I got home my mom helped me unload it. When I had to sort gifts for distribution my sister and her colleagues gave me space. My boyfriend, mom, and brothers help whenever they can to load and unload donations. I am surrounded by loving and giving individuals. Thank you all for supporting me and supporting the organizations that the items go to. Every child we wanted to give gifts to through the Defending Childhood Initiative was given a gift. Coats, clothing, blankets, winter items, food, toys, games, etc were given to the elderly and the Sicangu Child and Family Services program which oversees the Spotted Tail Childrens Home. This year we had donations come from the Rosebud area, the Twin Cities area, Arizona, and Colorado!! (Not including the monetary donations that were sent to purchase food and gifts!!) All I can say is thank you thank you thank you. I dont know how to show my gratitude to everyone. You are amazing. And remember, I take these donations year round. If you have donations youd like me to take to Rosebud I can always find a home for them. Again, thank you. I am so thankful for everything.
