I want to see if others have had this issue... I have a gelding who is a bigger guy, 16h, up to weight (maybe to some, slightly over but we call it working weight, hes healthy) and we went on a trail ride today...after going up a fairly steep hill that was maybe a quarter mile long...he was huffin and puffin bad. My other two horses were barely effected from it. I let him cool down, kept on walking some trails and with in 30 mins he starts tripping over everything. So yes, hes exhausted, I get that BUT over the summer he had been on a couple nice rides and wasnt anywhere exhausted. This is the second time this hill has defeated him and he can barely handle it. He gets rode quite a bit so Im not sure if this is just the hill? Medical issue? Its not fun for him as he is tripping over a lady bug on the path or for the rider but Ive never owned a horse that got this tired after riding 45 mins on the trail??! Thoughts?
