I want to share with you a review done on my book, GAME OVER. Thanks, Karen Rey. GAME OVER: Book Review By: Karen Rey ONLINE VIDEO GAMES: To play or not to play? That is the question. Borrowing the tag line from Shakespeare, I believe that this is a question many people from all different age groups and walks of life struggle with. Pastor Hiram Pangilinan addresses the issues of Video Games through his book, Game Over, so effectively because he harmonizes not only faith but scientific fact as well by bringing into perspective the truth of video game addiction. I only began to realize the seriousness of video game addiction when I became a teacher. It wasn’t long before I noticed the negative effects that video games had on my students. Tardiness, drowsiness in class, and dropping grades are only a few of the symptoms they continually exhibited. However, it was only after reading Game Over that I realized that the addiction of video games hit closer to home. I began to see myself in the past easily entangled by the traps of video games. As a youth leader, a friend, and a sister; I realize that the behavior and attitudes of those dear to me became clearer as I remembered witnessing their struggles in life unknowingly caused by excessive video games. Game Over is a book designed to be read by parents and children. And it is a book that will not only open the minds and hearts of anyone who admittedly struggle with video game addiction; but it also ministers and gives fresh perspective to those who believe they are not addicted. Most of all, Game Over is a book of hope. By the grace of God and the empowerment of the Holy Spirit; it is never too late to be set free from any bondage of video game addiction.
