I want to thank all my friends who supported me on a very difficult day. I love Costa Rica, but its laws can be unfair and inflexible, and its people slow and sometimes shoddy in their work. Monday 2 policemen came to my house and delivered a document saying I need to vacate my house and I have 3 working days to appeal. My lawyer was too busy on the first day, and on the second day I went to the documents office to find out the reason. It was all false, the accuser was not the owner, and the property he claimed was not the property. He is a neighborhood man well known for his mischief. Today I had until 4:30 pm to deliver my lawyers reply. He told me it would be ready by 1pm, but it wasnt until 3pm that it was concluded, to be sent by motorcycle to the proper authority. And I just learned (almost 4pm) that it was finally delivered. I want to thank Lucia for all her loving support, both linguistic and emotional during this time. She is one terrific lady that I am so lucky to have found. Our bond is stronger than ever. The lawyer did a great job, but, so common in this culture, he didnt complete the document at the time he said it would be done. I hated waiting for the last minute, and I hate depending on other people for important things. Now, I just wait, with confidence that at least the police wont return with an order to vacate.
