I want to thank everyone for all of the incredible Birthday greetings yesterday! Being that the first anniversary of your 39th birthday is such a milestone in our culture, I feel obliged to comment. The foreshadowing of knee pains now creeping on my horizon and an increasing amount of grey coloring the hairs that have decided to remain on my head would lead some to offer the judgement of “old”. (My wife comes to mind…) But not according to our former President , the elder Bush! I once heard him speak while at A&M, a few weeks after he went parachuting at the age of 80. He said “you’re never old until your regrets outnumber your dreams.” I’ll cling to that definition and follow it with two of my favorite quotes: Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming -- WOW-- What a Ride!” Not that I have already obtained it or have already become perfect, but I press on so that I may lay hold of that for which also I was laid hold of by Christ Jesus. Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.…” - Paul the Apostle I’m truly grateful and overwhelmed by all the well wishes yesterday - Thank You!
