I want you to imagine you have a leg wound that has cut so deep it - TopicsExpress

I want you to imagine you have a leg wound that has cut so deep it is almost to the bone. The doctors stitch it up and send you home. Of course because the wound was not cleaned out, there is a disaster brewing below. Over time the skin DOES heal (even forming scar tissue) but just like any infection, eventually it WILL rise to the surface and it will be painful and certainly, not pretty right? Being full of infection, even a hidden one, down deep, makes us feel crummy eh? Our bodies, energy level and mood will begin to decrease. Eventually it could even take our lives. Now imagine, that same inevitable injury happens. Instead of just sending you home with a few stiches, the doctors take the time to fully clean out the wound, removing all of the grime held beneath. They not only stich it up, but put you on antibiotics and have you stay for a while to ensure no infection sets in. Once you are well, they send you home with oral medicine to ensure proper healing takes place…as well as schedules a follow up appointment. In our lives, very rarely do we handle our emotional pain like the second scenario. Most of the time, we rush through the emotional ER and move forward, scar tissue forms and we continue on with life, trying to just forget what happened. Sometimes we actually pick and pick and pick at the wound because we want so badly to heal from it, keeping it inflamed, but “feeling” like we are addressing it. Deep within you, there may be an offense, a hurt, a pain, a bitterness, a disappointment, an ache that cannot be healed by replacing that hurt with another person, a hobby, a new job etc. The only way to fully heal from the past, is to go deep, see it for what it was, be willing to forgive (not just for the other person…but because it IS the antibiotic you need) and release it fully. Consider it today :)
