I wanted to follow up with a story I saw online about Uber. Apparently whoever manages WISH--TVs webpage on Facebook, indicated a fare was paid that was in excess of $450 for a surge priced fare. First off that is based on a surge price that was NO MORE than 8.5 (just me, I worked the entire weekend and I know how high it was, but that was only for UberSelect, which is their luxury car selection. UberX is the cheapest option, and had not gotten over a surge of 5.6x the price. In addition, theres also BlackCar service and SUV all of which have variance in prices--possibly cheaper than a 8.5x surge-- compared to the Select rides that had the 8.5x pricing). According to the story, that ride normally was $30… Which would indicate that it was $255, NOT $450..on the Select surge rate. It is IMPOSSIBLE TO SAY SHE PAID $450! I monitor this information consistently on a daily basis. Also WISH TV is reporting it as the fact that Uber gouges its customers when it requires DUAL verification of surge pricing. It would be completely ridiculous and asinine for somebody to agree to pay to something, then turn around and complain about it to the whole world!! The lady didnt have to choose UberSelect..Uber has 4 other ride options! This article seems to have a bias and is inconsistent in the information it is being reported on! WISH-TV, please get your information straight and accurate before you start putting a company on blast like this in the future. Thanks!
