I wanted to go for a walk yesterday for exercise and I had my wallet. After I walked for 2 or 3 miles a bus rode by and I had nothing better to do so I decided lets see where life takes me. I went to downtown Pittsburgh and decided to experience all that Pittsburgh has to offer, or at least as much as I could walk to. I never really went to downtown Pittsburgh unless I had a reason (unfortunately it was usually criminal court) so I had no idea where things are. The landscape alone was gorgeous, I got off the bus in Market Square. There were some unique bars and restaurants and luckily it was about 9 am (I started walking at 7:30) so they werent open (I was glad because this started out as exercise, I didnt want to replace the calories I burned off!) I saw some suspicious looking people at the end of one alley so I went the other way. I ended up at the T station which is Pittsburghs subway system. Its currently free so people learn to use it, as it is a convenient way to get around town. I took the time to read all the placards and learned quite a lot of history and it was very interesting. During the ride it takes you past Heinz Field and you can see the field from the T, which I have never been there but it is now going on my summer bucket list of things to do. I got off and saw the Carnegie Science Center and The Rivers Casino, I have donated a decent amount of money to the Casino so I decided why not check out the science center. I probably looked out of place (I was wearing shorts and a hooded sweatshirt to exercise in) and I was by myself but I threw caution to the wind and went on in. I had way too much fun there by myself and I learned quite a bit, I want to return when I have more time and am dressed for the occasion, I regret missing the omni max show I wanted to see (I was too busy playing with the musical exhibits, I played Metallica on their keyboard:P ) I left there and since I am not familiar with the bus system I was walking around looking for someone to ask. I stumbled upon Blush (strip club) and despite being under dressed, I figured someone inside probably had the answers I was seeking :) (it was either Blush or Pittsburgh Parking Authority, where would you go if you were single) I was only in Blush for 15 minutes and after seeing this young hot girl working this older weirdo who looked like he could have been the bad guy on Law and Order SVU, I decided this wasnt for me. I went to the Pittsburgh Parking Authority and got directions home. Long Story short I am so glad I went out of my comfort zone and I was rewarded with an awesome experience and I got a lot of exercise. I have missed out on so much of my life and I want to start living it and instead of sitting around the house watching another NCIS marathon, I started making good health choices. I also realized I live in an awesome city and I am starting to see why Pittsburgh people have so much pride in their town, it really is beautiful and the cultural district is amazing. There still is so much to do and I plan on conquering the South Side and catching a Pirate Game.
