I wanted to share an update to our post below. Last week we had an important conference call and learned that the FDA has recently approved the current AML immunotherapy clinical trial to be allowed on children with a minimum weight of 35 lbs. What does this mean? Well it means our children will now have more options and a fighting chance for a cure when all the toxic chemotherapy treatments fail. We were told about a 5 year old little girl who is battling relapsed AML (post 1 or 2 BMTs) was recently told there was nothing more that could be done to save her life. She previously did not qualify for this immunotherapy trial because of the weight restrictions. Now this new FDA approval is a gift from GOD. Our journey with AML has been bittersweet. We lost our beautiful Benjamin. We are constantly reminded of the many children that we have met along the way who have died because there were no more options. We continue to pray for those who, thankfully, are continuing to do well. We feel there is HOPE to combat this beast and our goal is to continue to help fund this promising research. We want this immunotherapy trial to be available for all HLA types. This is the immediate goal of this therapy. If you would like to be kept updated on our progress to help fund this research, learn about our upcoming events and/or to volunteer in any capacity, please join our mailing list. bh4tf.org/contactus.html
