I wanted to share this video for a few reasons. This is a video - TopicsExpress

I wanted to share this video for a few reasons. This is a video from a snake catcher down in S.A. He is catching an Eastern Brown Snake who had just been attacked by a pet cat. The snake bit the pet cat in self defense and the cat sadly died on the way to the vet. So the number 1 reason to share this video, your pet cats are safer living indoor ALL of the time with well supervised outside time and our wildlife is in turn safer. Second reason I wanted to share this video. This backyard is a PRIME example of snake habitat, it is a lovely garden with beautiful plants, rocks, and wood crevices. This provides the 3 main things that a snake looks for, food, shelter, and water. It took the snake catcher over an hour of dedicated searching to find this snake. If you want to reduce your chances of having a snake in the yard keep garden beds a distance from the house, the lawn mowed short, clear of debris, and empty any standing water. The third reason that I wanted to share this video was the man behind the cameras comments. He said at least twice that the snake was smaller than he thought it was. This is often the case as snakes move very quickly and people are often very scared they over estimate the size and also the activity of the snake. And the last reason I wanted to share this video is that even after being attacked by a cat all this snake wanted to do was hide and stay safe, even when caught by the snake catcher the snake wanted to get away.
