I wanted to take a moment and thank you all your patience as we - TopicsExpress

I wanted to take a moment and thank you all your patience as we grow and figure out the icky details that will make sure we can keep doing the fun stuff. As you may know, SMILE Alberta is now a registered non-profit. It wasn’t an easy decision to move forward with this step but, with the rate the SMILE movement is growing, it was necessary in order to provide the level of support many of the groups require. So, we now have the needed structure in place to comply with government regulations, we have a mission & vision statement, and we know how to operate as a provincial group with many branches. We respect that every location is vastly different so our goal is to give each Branch as much room to develop as they see fit and make the formal work as minimal as possible. To do this effectively, we need lots of feedback from you guys. Ive attached a file that shows you what the structure of the provincial group looks like. As youll see, were still seeking a Treasurer and a Southern AB Rep. Also, by default (for lack of a better word) each Branch Coordinator automatically has a position on the Executive Committee. No, this doesnt mean you have to start driving somewhere for meetings (although youre welcome to when the time comes). What it means is you have a voice and vote on what we do as a provincial group. PLEASE ask questions so we can try to keep this transition smooth and help you anyway we can. If anyone is wanting to be involved on the provincial level, please let me know.
