I was amused reading your recent (august 2014) comment at the launching of the book written by the Chairman of Oluyole local government, Prince Ayodeji Abas-Aleshinloye titled: Grassroots Governance in Perspective: My Experience in Oluyole local government. At the launching, you were reported to have advocated and canvassed for the autonomy of local government councils in Nigeria as well as complete autonomy for the states. This is a direct contrast to your refusal to give minima autonomy to the local government councils in Oyo state and your comment of August 2012 in USA where you advocated for the scrapping of the councils. In far away Chicago, USA, in 2012 where a roundtable held on federalism in Nigeria, you did not just called for the scrap of local government councils, you requested for the removal of local governments from the constitution of federal republic of Nigeria in order to allow governors to create councils as they like and administer it as they like. Based on these contradictions, I wonder how your mind will work for an autonomous local government. As a matter of truth, if local governments had not been listed in the constitution as you wished, Oyo state would have been a complete disaster now. Based on your belief that governors should run the councils as they want, you refused to conduct elections to the councils in Oyo state, you pocket the federal allocations of all the councils, you decide what each of the councils do with the paltry sum you release to them and send contractors to them to execute the projects. Will these be your concept of autonomy? By Folorunso Oladipupo....... My people in Oyo State , pls digest the last paragraph of the above......
