I was asked yesterday, Why do you quote other people so much on - TopicsExpress

I was asked yesterday, Why do you quote other people so much on your Facebook posts? I immediately had two reactions (you Quantum Physics people will understand the duality at one time). First, my Group Facilitator/Trainer self kicked in and I thought asking why questions are typically the least effective means of garnering information. Most definitely to be avoided when emotions are bare ( they were not in this instance) but also in general conversation. Why questions typically elicit defensive behavior that is triggered by a childlike apologia pro vita sua and seldom get the answer(s) that the questioner is soliciting. Google avoid asking why. Second, I was reminded of the quote from the father of the essay, Michel de Montaigne who said I quote others only in order the better to express myself. :-)
