I was awakened this morning to the sun attempting to break past the pulled blinds. Slowly I made my way down for my normal cup of caffeinated wake me up. I was feeling very optimistic and looking forward to my day. As I sat at the table and unfolded the dispatch and turned on the morning report it sank in. There it was, a plane crashed, two where dead. A train derailed, possible deaths. A sailor fell overboard and had drowned. An infant was left in car for eight hours and perished. Somewhere else a one year old child meets the same fate. A seven year old boy lost his life when a bullet falls back to earth after being fired in the air in celebration and strikes him in the head. Wild fires are burning out of control. Flooding waters wash people from the shores. Then there is civil unrest in so many places around the globe. There is no wonder that depression has become so common to so many people in our society. With all this racing through my mind, I stepped outside and a warm breeze wrapped around me and settled my weariness. I applaud those of you that have found the strength to cope with and work through life’s struggles. As for those of you that continue to look for refuge in life’s skirmishes on your soul, I pray for you…..~ Scott Whittemore
