Posted 07.12.13 by Greg Campbell, TPNN Contributor The Miami Police Department has begun training exercises to prepare “in the event we have civil unrest.” Though the MPD has maintained that this is a “routine exercise,” many have noted that this riot-control exercise is occurring just days before the Zimmerman verdict. Is this what America has truly become? Surely, this cannot be what we want for our children. The near-constant presence of racial issues in politics has hi-jacked the needed national discussions to improve our country. Everyone is entitled to an opinion on George Zimmerman’s guilt or innocence. But our nation is a Republic- a nation that values to rule of law and order. It does not permit lawlessness as a reaction to an unpopular verdict. It is a truly sad testament to the state of race relations in America when our reaction to a racially-charged trial is to prepare for widespread violence. It is abhorrent that our president could interject himself into a Florida homicide case with little or no knowledge of the facts. It is outrageous that our government has helped fuel the flames of racially-charged anger by helping incite protests against George Zimmerman. Truly, we are better than this.
