I was blessed to harvest a deer today. I wasnt even planning on hunting. I asked my Dad if he wanted to walk up on his back hill to scout for possible tree stand locations and he said you should take your bow. On our way up the hill (2:00 p.m.) I see a deer in front of us. A lot of other things happened... I shoot the deer and I am pretty sure my arrow hit some twigs because (upon recovery and examination of the deer at 8:00 p.m. after blood trailing the deer 1500 yards) the entrance wound was just in front of the hind quarter. The best part of the story.... It was a SPIKE not a Doe like I thought it was. I guess no taxidermy bill this archery season. Well, unless my daughter Bailey decides to whack a Big Buck which could happen.
