I was born in Ashby in the 1950s at Ashby Cottage Hospital, went to A.G.G.S. and then started work in what was then the Westminster Bank in Ashby in 1969. I remember Waterfields cake shop, Isons, Holdrons and Bullens when it was a grocers. I recall the X99 bus would pull over outside Rushtons. Chick would hand them game etc to go to the hotels in Birmingham and Nottingham and someone would collect them at a bus stop in the city! My maiden name was Sharpe, I live in Devon now.
