I was chatting to some of my classmates last year about one of the anomalies of a scientific thought. I think I should qualify that and say an atheistic, religious scientific thought. Any expression of a position on God is religious by default. Plate tectonics. The geographical observation that the earths crust is divided (goodness knows by who; the scientific fraternity would argue that Mother Nature did; Id love to meet Mother some time--seriously) into plates. Earthquakes and volcanic activity sometimes occur on the fault lines along these areas of divide. Resultant from this division of the earths crust into plates is the scientific theory that the continental land masses used to be one, massive whole forming a fictitious, gargantuan land mass that our scientific fundis call Gondwanaland. Yep. Gondwanaland. Over millions of years, these land masses then drifted apart (continental drift--yet another ludicrous scientific theory). Apparently, Africas western coastline fits snugly into the South American eastern coastline (that is, when the two continents used to be neighbours in Gondwanaland, South America used to snuggle against Africa). While I love the sight and sound of the name Gondwanaland, the idea behind it makes me weep. I sat and listened to a very sane question posed by a sharp physicist back in 2007. For the continental drift theory to be even conceivable, the continents are supposed to have drifted across the oceans. Here is his rhetorical question: what do we get at the base or floor of the oceans? The redundant answer is: LAND. We must now double back and ask again: if Gondwanaland EVER existed, how did Africa drift away from South America across the DIRT beneath what is now the Atlantic Ocean floor? BOOM! A perceptive author once observed: had humanity always remembered that they came off the Creators hands, such stupidly foolish theories would have NEVER seen the light of day. I stand here on Facebook today to testify to the same fact: God COMMANDED humanity (not the Jews but all of humanity) to remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy. Why? In six days, He created the earth, the sun, moon and stars, the waters, seas, and EVERYTHING that is in all these habitats--and then RESTED (ceased His labour of creation) on the seventh and last day of the week. In fact, if it was NOT for this fact of His creation that started off all life on earth, the phenomenon of a cyclic time period called a week would NOT exist. I challenge all professed believers in the true God (there are a lot of god fakes out there) that their allegiance to God is incomplete without paying cognisance to this WEEKLY reminder that we came off the Creators hands. Had Gods people ALWAYS remembered this fact, the Dark Ages would have NEVER seen the light of day. Subsequent to the Dark Ages, the Age of Reason would have NEVER seen the light of day, together with the atheism, humanism, secularism, paganism, evolutionism and postmodernism that came with that Age of Reason. As we park continental drift in its grave, I would like to invite us all to a moment of 24-hour rest at the feet of the Creator. A happy Creation Anniversary Day, my FB friends and family.
