I was cleaning house (weeding the computer) over the weekend and re-discovered a document I had saved from a few years back. Have any of you heard of Henry Schoolcrafts 1818 Journal ? - - - - Journal of a Tour into the Interior of Missouri and Arkansaw, from Potosi, or Mine a Burton, in Missouri Territory, in a South-West Direction, toward the Rocky Mountains, Performed in the Years1818 and 1819. Published in 1821. A friend sent me this document, and I read it with great fascination. It is an in-depth personal account of Mr. Schoolcrafts year-long journey through our area, and in particular his travels through the Great North Fork River and Bennets Bayou, where I live. Reading about the times so far back was exciting and enlightening. I noticed we have the ability to upload files (and therefore I assume text docs) on this page and was wondering if anyone would like to have access to this document. It seems it would be a good read for anyone interested in the history of our little corner of the universe. Please bear in mind this document/account is 65 pages in length, so reading it entirely would take some time. Please leave your comments as to whether or not this might make a good edition to this page and group. I also assume it is public domain so I would not be stepping on anyones toes, so if I am, please set me straight.
