I was downtown and passed a manicured couple -- an older salt n pepper man in a charcoal suit, and his younger companion, a twentysomething woman in a floral sundress and several 40s flips of yellow hair that surrounded her face like swirls of frosting. She kept smirking at me in what I thought might me a conspiratorial way, but in the first two seconds past me she said only in Portland. If thigh high boots and Cleopatra eyeliner are only worn in Portland, it would be a very dull world indeed. I think she is going to have a heart attack when she discovers that people here also have tattoos and blue hair. Let me tell you, the weirdest things in this city have nothing to do with cosmetics...
