Many of my friends here on Facebook dont follow publishing news but I wanted to urge you to look at the tactics Amazon is inflicting on Hachette and its authors (its removing the buy button on certain titles because Hachette is refusing to bow down to Amazons deep discount structure. Go ahead, try to order a David Sedaris paperback), not to mention the entire publishing industry. Books are not just merchandise. Books are culture. So I also urge you to share this message and to stop buying from Amazon. There are other online retailers: indiebound.org for books, for example. Just ask yourself this: Do you really need that banana slicer?
