I was honored to give the Joe Bruneni memorial lecture today at the Association of Schools and Colleges of Optometry (ASCO) ophthalmic educators annual meeting. Over an optics career that spanned over 40 years, Joe Bruneni managed laboratories, taught Optometrists at SCCO, and was an icon in the industry. He passed away on 5 March 2004 (his 79th birthday, and- ironically- my birthday as well). Anyway, it was a real pleasure to speak to a great group of Optometric educators, the event was hosted fabulously by Transitions Optical, and the only thing that could have made the day better would have been having Darryl Meister there- his presence was greatly missed and everyone had memories and words to share.
