I was honoured to give the address at the official unveiling of nine headstones for World War One veterans at Cornelian Bay Cemetery this afternoon in what was a truly touching ceremony. It was a great privilege to also unveil, with LT COL Peter Hodge (& President, Hobart Legacy), the headstone of Gunner Edgar Edward Ernest Evans, who enlisted in 1914 at the age of 21 and was wounded in action. I commend the work of the Tasmanian Headstone Project, led by Chairperson Andrea Gerrard, in ensuring that the service and lives of our World War One veterans are respectfully recognised.
