I was in my church today, not that I go as a believer, I go as a family member to participate in the mass to celebrate the lives of family members who have gone from us...theres always a few at this time of year....I usually play music with my cousin for the ceremony. As an atheist, there is conflict, but I resolve it in the comfort of showing respect for others who are believers. I wont be going back...ever.... The priest started of with a call for sympathy for the Jewish people...Nothing wrong with that of itself...BUT....there is a huge push by the Roman Catholic church for sympathy toward the Jewish people, not one bit unintentional Im sure of that. Manufacturing consent I think Naomi Klien calls it. I suspected a long while now that this trend is deliberate and very calculated. An isolation of the third of the three revealed faiths dominating this planet, Islam, by mutual appreciation being built between the other two. ....THEN.... He said we are all saved through our baptism. (we are special)...and went on about that..... Then in a later part of the mass while preaching about love and tolerance he asked for us all to pray for Catholics being persecuted in Muslim lands.... There I drew the line...Im never going back. I remember our local priests asking the congregation to pray for Muslims about to be killed on the eve of shock and awe in 2003.... Disgust doesnt even come close. Hypocrisy is getting closer. Church and power go hand in hand, wealth and privilege make sorry bedfellows. The Roman Catholic Church has always supported the Empires view, Fascist regimes and Dictators....today there is no difference, though those who are churchgoers Im sure wont, or cant believe it. From Bishop Romero being gunned down in front of his congregation for asking Pope John Paul to beg Carter to stop funding death-squads in Columbia, To Pope Francis telling Roger Casement we are in the business of saving souls, not people when he visited Rome to plead with him to beg Leopold to stop killing Congolese (10 million)....The Catholic Church obviously has a forgetful tendency. The cruades, WW-1, WW-II, all massacres of Muslim countries....and now WW-III in the making. Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, 15 African countries now targets without UN mandate or even discussion......All oil rich..every country being invaded is a muslim country. By mainly Christian, Catholic countries.....Coincidence...Nah. Is it any wonder when Islamic belief is in non interest bearing bonds, So is, or should I say...was... Catholicism...but. I wonder where in the Bible they talk of selective sympathy.... Is it any wonder the church was only a quarter filled. The RC church is purging 10,000 Catholics a week...and more and more Catholics are turning Muslim in a rapidly growing congregation..... Mabey theres something in that....
