I was in the checkout line at the Kroger nearest where I live, and I had put my groceries up on the belt. There were no little divider sticks, so I had left a space between my groceries and those of the woman in front of me. Nevertheless, the cashier picked up my first item (which happened to be tofu) and started to scan it on the end of the womans order. She spoke right up Thats not mine. I dont eat tofu. He does. Bless his heart. I told her Yes maam. I learned to do that while fighting in the war to defend your right to look down your nose at me.
