I was invited to visit the childrens house that they had built out of blocks today. The diligent architects, B, A, B, K, S and R were busily sweeping, placing decor and conversing in their mini mansion. A informed me that I would need to be a kitten in order to stay, but S solemnly let me know that I was just fine being me. He also let me know that they had built the house extra big so that it could be shared. It was truly touching to be invited into this special space and to hear their conversation about planning rooms for others to share. As children settle into the more open indoor/outdoor access and available resources, we are privileged to see these more complicated and intriguing models of play emerge. R planned and constructed a house for birds to visit - a lovely thought connecting similar needs to different species. The children never cease to surprise me with their compassion, generosity and spirit... parents should be very proud :)
