I was just at Sutter Buttes Brewery in Yuba City for dinner. It has just reopened. Its beautiful and the staff is great. Two white guys from out of town were full of attitude for their server. I dont know if it was because he was African American or not, but thats what it seemed to be: he was great and patient. When they checked out, they left their receipt open in viewing distance of where I was sitting. I noticed they left him ZERO tip on a $65 tab. I asked my server (not the same one) if I could tip her and also add a tip 20% of their tab for him, since his customers obviously sucked. She told me that was fine and appreciated, so thats what I did. I saw no evidence that this slight was anything other than racism, which Ive never seen so blatantly. The food was good. Their server was patient. He bent over backward for them. They just sucked. I left him a note apologizing that he had to deal with such idiots. Tip, people. If you cant afford to tip, you cant afford to go out. Period.
