I was just minding my own business and could not get to sleep - TopicsExpress

I was just minding my own business and could not get to sleep Saturday night. . Celeste was out of town and on her way home. I was watching TV when my cat came to my bedroom door and started crying loudly. That cat has never done that, especially at 3:00 am! So I let her out just to shut her up. A few minutes later, Celeste came through the door, said hello and went to the kitchen to put away a salad she had leftover from her dinner. All of a sudden I hear a loud noise like a freight train followed by a very strong jolt (which caused me to shoot out of bed). We have a large headboard with cabinets and shelves trying to fall on me while the large mirror on my dresser is also trying to fall on me. I am trying to hold onto both of them while watching the walls and ceiling swaying back and forth and Celeste is screaming her head off while the cabinets and drawers are throwing there contents out, breaking into drawers and on the floor. Pictures are dropping off the walls while lamps and recessed lighting panels are falling. I am yelling to Celeste that we will be ok while she continues to scream in horror wondering why I am not coming to help her. This went on for 15-20 seconds (seemed like an eternity)! Now I have been through 5 or 6 earthquakes in my life and considered them to actually be kind of fun. Kind of like being on a surfboard. I have never paid much attention to the details of the word epicenter. ( just a bit of information of where it started from ). Well I now know what a difference it makes to be at the epicenter and it is not fun! It is horrifying!!! I am so grateful that no one in my community was killed or seriously injured and wish a speedy recovery to those that did get hurt elsewhere. We have finished the clean up of broken glass, marinara sauce, vegetable oil etc. and now for the repairs of sheet rock, rehanging a door or two and re-strapping the water heater. Life is good!
