I was just talking about this last night. I realize that, in the fact of all the pro-corporate Democrats in office, it seems like these wins are negligible when considering how badly the American worker is being screwed. Fact is that were all fighting different heads of the same hydra, and to win decisively against one head weakens them all. With marriage equality being recognized in several states now, something that corporate America honestly doesnt give a shit about, it creates a strain between the social conservatives and the business conservatives. The business conservatives arent going to throw themselves under the bus to prevent gays from being married. This cant help but infuriate the social conservatives (whove, truthfully, already lost), who likely see it as a betrayal. As that particular hydra head withers, its that much easier to turn our attention to pro-worker causes. As we win on healthcare, and womens rights, we also have more energy to invest in economic and environmental fights. And, we hope, that the people who were so militant in advocating for the furtherance of their own cause will see fit to help where they can to defeat the REST of the monster.
