I was looking at the headlines on my computer this afternoon and I was taken aback by all the ugliness and lawlessness being reported. I am amazed that human beings can act the way they do and be so separated by their political, legal, social/economical, and religious perspectives. The Bible tells us in Mark 3:25 that a house divided against itself cannot stand. Abraham Lincoln used that Scriptural reference in his acceptance speech in 1858, when he accepted his party’s nomination to run for the senate. President Lincoln was speaking about the issues of slavery that eventually served as a catalyst for the civil war. Are we today heading toward a similar outcome? It’s time for us Christians to start praying and sharing the Gospel like never before. Only Christ can mend the brokenness of our great nation. It’s time to see the source of this evil that is running rampant today and to believe in the One who can deliver us. Jesus said that, “the thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly (John 10:10).” Are we going to stand together against the enemy or are we going to stand by idly and watch as we descend to another civil war?
