I was made aware this evening of an incident that occurred in my store today involving a mother asking about where she could breast feed her child. As the owner of All Things Kids, and as a mother myself, I can assure anyone with concerns regarding breast feeding in our store, that we have always allowed and encouraged any mother needing to breast feed their child, to please do so. Please know that you do not need our permission. When mothers have asked us in the past where they could breast feed in our store, we have always offered up one of our fitting rooms, if available, or at least a seat that is more comfortable away from the traffic of the front counter for additional privacy. Not all mothers take us up on our offer, but a lot of mothers have and appreciate the privacy. I was not in the store today so I am not entirely certain to the details surrounding this occurrence, but what I do know is that the employee involved is a new employee of high school age with no experience with regards to breast feeding, but none the less, I am deeply sorry that a mother shopping in our store was made to feel that she couldn’t breast feed her child where she wanted to. That is certainly not our intent at all. My deepest and sincerest apology goes to you. I have already communicated with my team this evening to ensure that this will not happen again.
