I was nearly the star of my own horror film. The lights flickered thrice, then the power went out. By the light of my phone, I fished out three votives and went in search of matches. Last I checked, they were in the guest bath. Found, I lit the candles, and settled in with my laptop (30% power remaining), finishing a document, while the wind whipped ferociously outside. The only sound other than a creaking house. Pitch black. Next thing I know, a flashlight from outside is shining though my window, then through the downstairs windows, followed by a knock on the door. What do I do? They know Im inside the house. Who is it, I ask tentatively? No answer. Just a light trying to find its way in, determined. I check the locks. Secure. I head to the kids room to close the curtains, keeping myself concealed in the shadows. Well, I know how this film ends (thx to Liv Tyler) so I sit quietly and wait... #citymeetscountry ps.
