Students demand policy to streamline house rent Many students blocked a road at Teliarganj crossing on Thursday demanding reduction in the monthly house rents. They were holding placards and shouting slogans against landlords. Commuters had to problems due to traffic jam at the crossing. Students preparing for different competitive examinations and staying in rented houses protested against hike in the monthly rent. They demanded that the district administration should make a policy in the interests of the students. Kamlesh Upadhyaya preparing for the CPMT examination said: "We get limited money from our parents and have to purchase books and other necessary items. However, the landlords increase the house." Students from the eastern Uttar Pradesh and other parts come here to prepare for competitive examinations. Katra and University roads are the main places where the students reside. The landlords and owners of the student lodges have increased the house rent.
