I was nominated last night for the ALS ice bucket challenge by - TopicsExpress

I was nominated last night for the ALS ice bucket challenge by Christina Nevin, and so I completed it today. I ordinarily do not partake in these awareness campaigns, but this bucket challenge appears to be bringing in a lot of donations for research, and that I can get behind. For those not completely familiar with ALS, (commonly known as Lou Gehrigs Disease,) it is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that results in the death of motor neurons which extend from the brain to the spinal cord. When these motor neurons die, the brain loses its ability to control muscle movement and leaves those who suffer from ALS totally paralyzed in later stages. This is an awful disease, but there is hope: in recent years there has been a fantastic breakthrough in the understanding of ALS, and with more attention and donations, researchers will be ever closer to finding a solution. I nominate Jeffrey Scott, Pahul Hanjra, Emily Gilbert, Mitchell Reichner, and Karsten Dees for the challenge. Complete it within 24 hours or donate, or both! Even if you arent nominated, take a moment to research ALS and donate even a small amount. Anything counts.
