I was not aware until recently that it was a reform initiated by the UPA-II government by which diesel prices will be hiked by 50 paise per month, every month, 12 months a year, irrespective of any factor. Do we understand that this means price rise for almost every basic commodity on a regular basis? Removing diesel subsidies without any attempt to bring down the prices by some other means? Maybe by introducing tax-caps? And as expected, this UPA-III government continues to stand by their predecessors in this decision. #acchedin The monthly hike in price came after several rounds discussions that the new Oil Minister Dharmendra Pradhan held with state-owned oil firms on continuing with the reform initiated by the UPA government. The announcement of the hike gave clear indications that the BJP government will continue with reforms of the previous Congress regime.
