I was on a leash when I was little whenever I went to stores with my parents. I had no problem with it and it kept me from getting lost and throwing random stuff in the basket. It might sound wrong to put a kid on a leash but it does encourage them to walk and not be lazy riding in the basket all the time and prevents them from being kidnapped or lost in the store. Just saying. Just my opinion from my experience.
