I was one of the people who grew up with the consumerism -based- marketing dictating my every desire and purchase from fashion to household goods. Then, I found plastic litter on the beach and stopped to ask myself a few questions. I realised that we are all being exploited by the marketing companies in a system that became known as Planned Obsolence which gives not a scintilla of consideration to the environment or planet and I did not like the feeling being exploited or contributing to the devastation of nature. Now I make purchases only when needed and marketing companies no longer tell me what color is in fashion, what length my skirt should be, what hair style is right for me or what kind of furniture I should have in my house. And plastic, to the best of my ability, is a NO! NO! The picture below, designed by Bonnie Monteleone, illustrates the over indulgence that we experience today in our fast moving, convenience -based, overly marketed society.
