I was pleasantly surprised this morning to learn how quick and easy it is to apply for your passport (in and out in under 15 minutes). I was very unpleasantly surprised, however, to learn that my processing fees cost nearly $200. Call me crazy, but I feel that paying taxes should exempt me having to ante up at every turn. Want to charge me $50 to renew my drivers license? Perhaps that could come out of the money withheld from my paychecks. Or, better yet, we could stop using tax dollars to fund our military budget--Id find it much easier not to be upset about the myriad of fees under which my wallet is suffering if we funneled some of that money towards schools or roads. Im not sure where Im going with this. Maybe I dont have a point. I just want my $200 back, please.
