I was proud to join a rally at the Capitol to express my displeasure that Goddard College allowed convicted cop murderer Mumia Abu-Jamal to give their commencement speech. This only allowed the unremorseful murderer to revictimize the family of slain Police Officer Daniel Faulkner. That’s why I am strongly supporting House Bill 2533, the Revictimization Relief Act, which would allow the victim of a crime to bring a civil action to stop an offender’s conduct if it causes the victim or the victim’s family severe mental anguish. Maureen Faulkner said it perfectly “He silenced a man’s voice almost 33 years ago. He made sure that same man would never live again, never speak again, never breathe again, and now he wants to hide behind the First Amendment?” If this legislation had already been in place, the courts could have stopped Abu-Jamal’s (Wesley Cook) behavior, which has been on display since he murdered Officer Faulkner in 1981.
