I was putting Abigail to bed tonight and she said, Mommy, read me - TopicsExpress

I was putting Abigail to bed tonight and she said, Mommy, read me a book. Can you read me the Bible? I love to read about Jesus. I was also in the middle of telling her how one of her babysitters Briana Verderber had just got engaged. She got my phone so I could show her and as I put her Bible down and started to get the pictures ready, I started to feel -guilty(?) for interrupting her heart to read about Jesus with rings, and engagements, and the whole bit. I felt it ill-timed. But, I continued. I showed her Bris face and how excited she was, her beautiful ring and explained that she would one day walk down the aisle in a beautiful dress and they would promise to stay together forever. But, right now they were engaged or promised to each other. Abigail was excited of course and I quickly prayed that God would not let this be a distraction to His word and our time to study Him. We begin the New Testament section and read how Mary was pledged to Joseph and as a childs Bible explains (for they were to marry. It was her husband to-be) and it was so clear. God had used life, two totally different, non-related moments to instruct and sink the story into her heart. Bris engagement happened in a moment as Abigails request for this story happened in its own. My choice to look at engagement photos with her before reading had its own motivation and timing. And yet, it all connected. It says For the Word of God is alive and powerful. (Hebrews 4:12) Because He cares. Because He is an intentional God. It was not ill-timed as I had worried. It was absolutely timed, by my Creator who not only controls time, but loves those within it. Who loves my Abigail.
