I was reading an article by Eric Cressey, who I had the privilege of spending a few days with after coaching one of my athletes at the 2011 World powerlifting championships in Boston. Together we went through various needs for this athlete. It is a great article, not only does it confirm my rants about people needlessly training like they are trying to join the circus, it has a great deal of research to back it up. Here are some of the key points, but please take the time to read the article as you well get a lot from it. Unstable surface training UST Decreases performance in numerous sports specific battery tests. Lacks specificity for most athletes unless theyre in circus of course. Length amortization phase effectively decreasing power. Increases activation of antagonistic muscle groups therefore reduces activation of all important agonist. Has been shown to increase the incidence of injuries in and uninjured athletes. t-nation/training/bosu-ball-the-good-bad-and-ugly?utm_source=wd_newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=weekly_dose-140627&utm_content=title_article_1
