I was recently asked to conduct a product review for Avons Extra Lasting Lip Gloss. You can read my full review below and find out how it compares to more expensive products. Let me know what you think. Avon Extra Lasting Lip Gloss Product Review Holly Byrd Miller | 08/24/14 I am a product junkie so I am always trying new beauty products. However, because I am a professional makeup artist, I am very selective about the quality of the products. Not only does the quality matter for my own personal preferences, but it also matters for my clients. I only recommend products that I have tried and can attest to their quality. I recently got my hands on Avon’s Extra Lasting Lip Gloss. I am particularly critical when a product label says long wearing or long lasting, because as we know, not all products live up to their name. For me, long lasting means one application should last at least 5 - 6 hours with minimal to no reapplication. This product has a great low price of $4.99. It has a twist top that makes it easy to access. The clear tube is sleek, fits perfectly into my makeup bag and does not take up a lot of space. Also, because of the clear tube, I can see how much product remains in the tube. The long applicator makes it easy to evenly distribute. The packaging states “Shiny, moisturizing lip gloss wears comfortably for 8 hours. Beautiful and luminous.” The consistency is comparable to a lip lacquer which is a cross between lipstick and lip gloss. It’s not too thick and it’s not sheer. It’s not particularly sticky like a lot of lip glosses. The color is Always Apple and it has a hint of glitter in it. The color that is displayed online is an accurate picture of the color that I received. The lip gloss is highly pigmented so the color is vibrant, which I really like. It’s sold in 10 shades which are perfect for every skin tone – from the fairest to the darkest. It provides light-to-medium coverage and its 10 ounces. I applied one coat of lip gloss in the morning. After eating my breakfast, drinking my coffee, drinking an entire 64 oz. bottle of water, I was pleasantly surprised that I did not have to reapply it. Also, I like the smell which reminds me of fruit punch. There was no product build-up under the top, which sometimes run down the side of the tube and can create a mess in my makeup bag. This is not uncommon for lip gloss, but the gloss did transfer when drinking. It does not dry matte nor is it a stain, therefore, it transferred onto whatever I was drinking. I guess I was a little sensitive to this, since the red is pretty vibrant. Even with that being said, I still did not have to reapply until after about 4.5 hours. I still had some of the product on my lips, but I like when my gloss is evenly distributed, so when it is not, I reapply. I can imagine it does give 8 hours of wear to those who do not mind if the product has worn in some areas, but that they have enough product to give them color and moisture. As the name suggests, it is long wearing. I was pleasantly surprised because like many people, I thought if it’s an inexpensive product, how much quality can I expect; I was wrong. The quality of the inexpensive lip gloss rivaled some of the top brands that are staples within my makeup kit. Rating: 4 out of 5. Aside from the fact that it did not last (by my standards) for up to 8 hours, Avon’s Extra Lasting Lip Gloss has earned its rightful place within my makeup kit. An Avon representative provided a sample of their Extra Lasting Lip Gloss for review purposes.
