I was selected as an alternate grand juror today. Kind of a dull and mundane thing, I know. But coming into the 4th of July, it is not. No person can be charged with a felony offense here without an indictment from a jury of their peers. No lawyer, judge, official, bureaucrat, can have any individual summarily charged with a felony crime. When I think of the rank abuses that I see here, in this country, I am thankful beyond any measure to have been born here. Because despite its faults, were lucky to be functioning under this system and not one run by the vagaries and whims of officials.
