I was shocked and saddened to read of Cindy Pariss untimely death. A diagnosis of leukemia last Monday and a death six days later. It seems like only last year she was part of the fun and memories at our Mt. Pisgah Academy 40th Class Reunion Alumni Weekend. It seems like only a few decades ago that we were both students in academy, walking the hallways, going on choir & AYA tours, hanging out during rec time in the gym. And a dozen plus years before that our families lived a few blocks apart in Ft. Worth, Texas when we were both pre-schoolers. Those of us who saw her last Facebook post day before yesterday stopped and breathed a quick prayer to the Lord to answer her prayer. And He did. She wrote What time I am afraid I will trust in Thee. I am claiming that and other promises as I go through chemotherapy for leukemia at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville,FL. I was diagnosed on Monday this week. I would appreciate your prayers for wisdom for my caretakers and my continued trust in my loving Heavenly Father ! Its true. “All flesh is grass, And all its loveliness is like the flower of the field. The grass withers, the flower fades, Because the breath of the Lord blows upon it; Surely the people are grass. The grass withers, the flower fades, But the word of our God stands forever.” Isaiah 40:6-8. Life is shockingly short on this planet. But this life is only a practice run for eternity with Jesus. Cindy made it clear to all those who knew her that she lived for Jesus, that He was her Best Friend, Savior and Lord. Now we have the settled hope that He is also her Resurrection and Life. Because someday soon the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore comfort one another with these words. 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18. Taylor, Thomson, Sarah, Jane, Darrel, Glen and all the rest of the family and friends- Our comfort at times like this comes directly from the Holy Spirit, the Divine Comforter. Someday soon there will be a giant resurrection and reunion, when Jesus returns and raises to eternal life those who have fallen asleep in Him!
