I was sitting in café and doodeling other things on a piece of paper while the annoying TV-set running CNN informed me that President Obama will now give a long and deep thought to the idea of bombing Syria. A lot of people seem to respond strongly to this late development and follow the simple-minded idea that even if such an intervention might be problematic - if it goes well it is one less dictator, right? So I kept doodeling. When I came home I sat down and started to put the scribbling into a computer. Attached you can see the result. Somewhat a grasp at the "big picture", if I may... Now, I know - it is MASSIVELY over-simplified. You would need to make it about 100x more complex to represent the existential reality in the Middle East! But that is totally beside the point. Why? Because the only function this inaccurate mind map has, is to accompany the one question that seems to me of relevance here: DO YOU REALLY THINK IT IS GOOD IDEA THAT YOUR POLITICAL LEADERS START A MILITARY CAMPAIGN IN THIS REGION? I am not asking any other question. I really do not care who the bad guy and who the good guy is.
